Fastap Project Showcased at Wind Europe Conference in Copenhagen

From April 25th to 27th, the Wind Europe Conference took place in Copenhagen, gathering industry experts and researchers from around the world. At the conference, attendees had the opportunity to engage and learn more about the FASTAP EU project at the Poster viewing session. Fernando Santodomingo Llamas, Senior Key Expert at Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy and project coordinator of the FASTAP EU project, presented a poster titled “Analysis and comparison of wind farm reactive power capabilities considering wind turbine level on-load tap changer transformers.” The research work evaluated the benefits of using fast OLTC WT transformers in two different wind farm configurations under various grid conditions. By allowing the WT to operate at optimum voltage levels, these transformers offer significant cost reduction and improved response to grid codes. The study aimed to analyse and evaluate the benefits in terms of reactive power capabilities and overall cost that these OLTC transformers provide to wind farms. The Fastap project’s participation in the Wind Europe Conference showcased their commitment to advancing renewable energy sources and increasing wind power generation efficiency. The conference provided an excellent platform for researchers and industry professionals to exchange knowledge, engage in discussions, and explore innovative solutions for wind energy’s future.
